She began the conversation with, “Did you know that Koryaks have vampires?” She told me of an old woman in her hometown who sits next to recently deceased people during funeral preparations: “She sits touching or puts one hand on the deceased person and draws residual energy out of the deceased into herself.” She does this to prolong her life, and she looks much younger than she is.
