Females are supposed to avoid or shun the manifestations of saksit power. They should not touch a Buddha image or a monk, they should stay away from the potent stupas, and should not own powerful amulets or wear sacred tattoos, nor know powerful khaathaa. Women are thought to pollute and neutralize the power of sing saksit and are dangerous to the potency of man...In ‘village Thailand’ this thinking is still demonstrated by the taboos that guide the washing and the drying of clothing. Preferably, feminine clothing should neither touch nor be on the same line as male clothing.
