Segregate

Quote

After this ceremony, the candidate retires into seclusion for twenty-eight days, “guiding course” (íche du), assuming the title “Sky,” and ceasing to touch other persons because of his new purity. He will henceforth wear white cloth at all times and establish a life style of exceptional purity and atonement. During this period of guiding his course, the candidate sends his kinsmen to present the animals and other materials for sacrifice to the various major spirits of the nonroyal clans. They act as his agents in these sacrifices.
