Quote

Nyama is transmissible by contact and at a distance. A man who sleeps in the bush can contract it from certain stones he touches. An uninitiated person, a woman, receive it by touching a mask. A dead man sends his on his nani; an altar communicates it to an object. The bullroarer gives it off by its humming. Certain rites make it pass from its support into the mask and from that into the rock painting
